Offered for sale is a classic and highly desirable Browning Superposed Grade I chambered in 20 gauge, representing early FN production and one of the most sought-after configurations within the Superposed line.
This example features the increasingly scarce round knob long tang configuration, a hallmark of earlier Superposed production and a detail that serious Browning collectors actively seek out. Built on a properly scaled 20 gauge frame and weighing just 6 lbs. 12 oz., this gun offers exceptional balance and handling in the field.
The shotgun is fitted with 28” ventilated rib barrels, chambered for 2 3/4” shells and choked Modified and Full, making it an ideal all around upland or sporting gun. It is equipped with a single selective trigger, white front bead, and white mid bead.
Stock dimensions are as follows:
- Length of Pull: 14 3/8”
- Drop at Comb: 1 3/4”
- Drop at Heel: 2 1/2”
- Cast: 1/8” off
The gun retains its original walnut stock with a later added thin rubber recoil pad, and importantly, the original Browning buttplate is included with the sale. The shotgun is accompanied by a classic canvas leg o mutton case, adding both utility and period correct character.
Condition is very good overall, showing honest handling wear consistent with a well cared for field gun. Mechanically sound and ready for continued use.
Early 20 gauge Superposed guns in this configuration particularly with round knob long tang stocks are becoming increasingly difficult to find, offering both strong collector appeal and practical field performance.
