Left hand Mathieu Arms .270 Winchester. Serial 1039 features a Mathieu action (claw extractor, two-position safety, cocks on opening), 24.5-inch barrel, rust blue finish and a AA-grade walnut stock (ebony forend tip, wrap checkering, Monte Carlo comb, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, steel grip cap, sling swivel studs and a Pachmayr Olde English recoil pad. Capacity is five rounds (all feeding from the magazine, extractor does not “snap over” rounds dropped into the chamber). DIMENSIONS: Weight (with optic) is 9.0 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.45 inches. OPTIC: A Leupold M8-6x with tapering reticle is mounted in Redfield rings and Leupold scalloped bases. Lens coatings are unmolested and the optics clear. Surface finish shows some plum coloring. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Mechanics are solid and trigger pull crisp. Metal finish is at least 90 percent. The barrel has a single plugged tap for an older style front mount just forward of the receiver. Wood is approximately 85 percent, most of the adjustment owning to a splice on the left rear likely inletted for a receiver sight. The price is firm and layaway is available. $2,500 plus shipping.
