**Exceptional A.H. Fox A Grade 12 Gauge – 1928 Production, Pre-Savage, High Original Condition**
A particularly well-preserved 1928 A.H. Fox A Grade 12 gauge, manufactured during the company’s highly regarded Philadelphia period prior to the Savage acquisition. Examples from this era represent the benchmark for American double guns in both craftsmanship and long-term durability.
This gun remains factory correct and undisturbed, with all serialized components matching, including the stock, and presenting as original throughout. It retains approximately 80% of its original factory finish—an increasingly uncommon level of preservation for a Fox of this vintage. The remaining finish exhibits a balanced, natural patina, with no evidence of refinish or enhancement.
The factory engraving is sharp, fully legible, and well-defined, standing in strong contrast to the surrounding metal—indicative of a gun that has avoided excessive polishing or restoration.
A recent professional inspection confirms:
• Excellent bores, clean and well maintained
• Barrel ribs solid throughout, with no indication of separation or compromise
• Properly functioning extractors, with the gun presenting in sound mechanical order
