This beautiful rifle made by J Roberts and Son is back up for sale and it has a new look to it. The previous buyer backed out of the sale and I decided to address the biggest concern from other prospective buyers. The old Aldis / H & H pattern scope mounts that were on the gun proved to be difficult to adapt to with any available rings, so I took this fine rifle to my trusted gunsmith and he came up with a solution that works wonderfully and in no way distracts from the original design of the gun. As you can see by the photos he was able to do some careful machining to adapt to a modern solution to mount the scope.
This J Roberts and Son rifle is chambered in the classic 416 Rigby. It has a 23.5 inch barrel and a 14.25 LOP. The magazine is 4 + 1 and weighs 9.9 pounds without scope. I've topped this rifle with an appropriate Zeiss Conquest V6 1-6x22 mm. with illuminated plex reticle and quick detachable rings. There is one standing leaf site regulated to 65 yards and two folding leaves for 100 and 200 yards. Extremely smooth action and a crisp trigger. Gold inlays on the bottom drop plate and trigger guard for caliber and serial number. Overall condition is very good with only a few handling marks. Bore is in excellent condition.
