Description:
Antique percussion short barreled long rifle fitted with an 18 1/2" octagon barrel, brass furniture and walnut stocks. The bore size is unknown. Percussion rifles of this size were easy to conceal and commonly refered to as "blanket guns."

The condition is quite rough. There are two breaks in the stock, one at the grip, and one above the lock. There is a possible repair to the forestock where wood was grafted on to fix a break. The hammer and hammer screw may be a later replacement. The rope-burned ramrod is a later replacement. The barrel has a strong brown patina and is pitted throughout.

The right-hand side of the buttstock features a crescent moon Mother of Pearl inlay.

A great wall hanger or project rifle.
