Developed in the mid to late 1980's with primary input by John Rogers and Bill Forson, the PSS rifle was meant to carry on and capitalize on the legacy of the M40/M40A1 military sniper rifles. Designed primarily as a law enforcement tool, though available to the general public, the PSS rifle has been adopted by a large number of police departments around the country.The standard PSS rifle sports a regular production, hammer-forged, 26-inch barrel of what might be termed medium-heavy.
