This is a great looking so-called "Model 1879" Trapdoor rifle that is in Model 1884 configuration with a Buffington rear sight, correct rear barrel band with cut-out, and metal front sight hood. The barrel, receiver, and lock retain 97-98% of the original blue finish, with some mild silvering at the muzzle, as well as some age toning to a mellow plum-brown patina in a few spots. The "1873" dated, low arch breechblock and barrel tang likewise retain a commensurate amount of their original vivid color case-hardening throughout. The walnut stock has a few small handling marks and minor blemishes scattered about the original military oil finish, and there is a crisp "SWP / 1883" cartouche on the left side of the wrist. This is a fantastic looking Trapdoor, and is in excellent condition. Antique; Price: $2,095.00 Antique: Yes |
