Description:
Serial #3252, .455 Webley, 6" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very nice revolver with "service" length barrel, and matching numbers on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The metal retains about 95-97% of an excellent, expertly reapplied blue finish that has silvered at the muzzle and on the high and exposed edges and projections. The checkered walnut grips are correct, but numbered to a different gun on the interior, and are in very good shape with numerous small handling marks and minor flattening of the points on both panels. The lock-up is still tight, and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is accompanied by folder of papers including a research letter from Richard Milner Ltd. in the UK listing a Webley sales invoice dated May 22, 1912, to Wilkinson Sword Co. 53 Pall Mall, London. Additionally, there is a 2015-dated letter signed by Eric Hellstrom, grandson of Carl R. Hellstrom, president of Smith & Wesson from September 1947 until his death in April of 1963. The letter lists this revolver by serial number as part of Hellstrom’s personal collection until his death whereupon it was inherited by Douglas Hellstrom, Carl’s son. It was then acquired by Carl’s grandson, Eric, upon the death of his father, and subsequently sold. This is a very nice Webley-Fosbery, in fine refinished condition, and owned by the president of a legendary American arms maker. It would make a splendid addition to any collection. FFL or C&R;
