Description:
This 2nd Generation Colt Single Action Army .357 Magnum, Manufactured in 1972, Has Extremely Rare West Germany Proof Marks, Brilliant Shades of Blue and Brown Case Colors, and is in Excellent 99% Condition with the Original Box!

This 2nd Generation Colt .357 is an exceptionally fine original design of the M1873 Single Action Army or “Peacemaker” and is chambered for .357 magnum, the barrel length is 5.5 inches, and the revolver is complimented with the black eagle polymer grips.  Don Wilkerson, in his book "Single Action Revolver” (on page 125), documented the approximate number of Single Action Army .357 magnum revolvers produced with the stagecoach box.  Mr. Wilkerson stated that 9656 revolvers were produced from 1964 to 1973, chambered in .357 magnum with the stagecoach box.  The number of SAA .357 magnum revolvers produced with a 5.5” barrel and black eagle grips was approximately 1631 in total.  This revolver has West Germany proof marks on it.  The number of revolvers with West Germany proof marks are extremely rare.  A Colt Authentication letter is included and the letter documents the shipment of only 10 revolvers to Mellrichstadt West Germany on July 27, 1972.  This Colt SAA .357 has all original parts and finish.  The very desirable Stagecoach box is original to this revolver and is in good condition for its age.  I have rated this revolver at 99% finish quality.  This revolver is unfired outside of the factory testing.  The high polished bluing retains a deep mirrored shine.  The frame, top strap, and loading gate have brilliant case colors of hardened steel.  The black eagle grips are in mint condition, have sharp checkering throughout, and look like new.  There are three rare Pegasus’ stamped on the revolver, one on the barrel, one on the frame, and the other on the cylinder.  West Germany stamped the year it was made and proofed “72” on the frame.  There is a checkered shield stamp on the frame.  This Colt SAA has matching serial numbers and proof stamps on it including: the serial number, 63436SA, stamped on the lower front of the frame and the left interior upper and lower grip straps.  There is a rare Z stamped on the right front of the trigger guard. The left front of the trigger guard has the traditional Colt VP triangle and there is a P stamped on the left rear of the trigger guard.  The loading gate has 660 stamped on the interior.  The cylinder has the Colt symbol and a German Pegasus stamped on front side and the rear side has 436 stamped into it.  The left and right interior grips have a 436 etched into them.  The left and right grip has Colt’s Htfd, Conn. stamped on it.  This revolver was manufactured one hundred years and shipped the exact same month after the second Colt patent date of July 2, 1872.  The cylinder is fluted and has some light scratches and minor loss of finish on it from being cycled over the years.  I have cycled the cylinder, and it functions properly with minimal play.  The cylinder chambers are mirror clear and clean.  All of the screws are in excellent condition.  The polished steel hammer has a knurled hammer spur.  All four clicks on the hammer are crisp and the lock up is tight.  There are some minor scratches on the sides of the hammer from cocking over the years.  The barrel has minimal visible signs of wear on it.  The bore is bright and shines like a mirror with strong lands and grooves.  There is a very tiny spot loss of finish on the rear of the grip strap.
