This listing is for my Smith & Wesson Model 27-2, Nickel, 5-Inch Barrel Revolver, 6-shot .357 Magnum, Square Butt, “N” frame. It is an Original, Florida Highway Patrol Duty gun.
The Smith & Wesson Historical Foundation letter shows this revolver was shipped to the Florida Department of Public Safety on June 28, 1977. The “FHP1553” stamp was done at Smith & Wesson at no charge.
Overall, I believe the 27-2 is in Very Good condition for being an actual Duty gun. There is a “ding” near the Pinned barrel (see photo) and some normal handling marks. The grips are, “take offs” from 1983 and are “like new”.
The Historical Foundation shows that this gun features:
- .357 Magnum Caliber
- 5-inch Barrel with Finely Checkered Top Stap
- N Frame Square Butt, Pinned and Recessed
- Nickel Factory Finish
- Seldom seen in this condition, as a FHP 5-inch Duty gun.
This is a vintage firearm that shows handling and usage marks.
