Springfield Armory U.S. Rifle, Cal. .30, M1 Garand, SN: "X"6000878, one of approximately 2000 rifles in the 6000016 to 6001902 range that were hand-stamped with an ''X'' prefix after the receivers were heat treated to account for erroneous duplicate serial numbers, most observed examples of National Match configuration, this one with a 8-54 dated Springfield Armory barrel. Crisp receiver and barrel markings, the barrel with a NM star code followed by "8 54" and “NM” marking beneath the operating rod and between the gas cylinder rings, the parts with Springfield Armory drawing numbers. The operating rod, all usual components of front and rear sight assemblies, and gas cylinder are NM-marked. Standard open front sight with “595” National Match rear aperture hood and T105 rear sight drums, a stamped trigger guard, and a 2-slot gas cylinder screw. Standard configuration handguard and stock, the latter with the DoD acceptance and encircled "P" on forward pistol grip that breaks the finish. Disassembly shows a matching magazine floorplate and barrel channel, both "0878", and a Springfield Armory / professional quality glass bedding. No accessories in butt.

Condition:

Gorgeous, 99+% original grey-green parkerizing with comparable condition wood. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. A superb rifle whose condition could not be improved upon!
