FANTASTIC Colt Single Action Army US Military revolver, inspected by DFC and dated 1882, with 7.5" blued barrel, case-hardened frame, and candy-striped grip, accompanied by original factory documentation and an outstanding John A. Kopec letter with gold seal, highlighting its condition and historical significance.

Description:

Standard configuration Colt Single Action Army revolver in .45 caliber, SN: 82695, with blued 7.5? barrel/grip and case-hardened frame. Usual fixed front sight with traditional notched rear sight. Top of barrel marked “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG Co HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.”. Left side of frame with stamped patent dates and “US” positioned below the cylinder area. SN “82695” appears on the bottom of frame, trigger guard, and butt with matching “2695” on outer cylinder. “1110” stamped on the loading gate. DFC inspector initials under barrel, frame, and bottom of right grip. Fitted with smooth walnut grips, the left panel bearing a rectangular inspector’s cartouche below the year 1882; DFC within rectangle on the right panel. Complete with original, signed, factory letter dated April 1990 confirming shipment to United States Government on October 11, 1882 AND original, signed and gold sealed John A. Kopec letter, dated June 2016, in which he concludes, "It would be very difficult to ever hope to find a finer Calvary revolver on the market today."

Condition:

This is such a superb revolver that better to quote John A. Kopec than issue our own evaluation. "During our examination of this fine revolver we have noted its superb unissued condition. It remains in virtually new condition. All of its original military blue finish and case colors remain. Some very mild storage pitting was observed on the right forward frame area. The base pin appears to have been replaced somewhere along the line. All screws remain in excellent condition. The grips remain perfect with no scratches or blemishes. The ordnance inspector cartouches are perfect. Both grip strap and back strap display the desirable "candy striping" of their blue finish. A fine bolt drag line was observed on the cylinder. The revolver remains in unfired condition showing all of its original blue finish within the cylinder chambers and bore." If you collect martial Colt SAA revolvers...it doesn't get any better!
