Description: Offered for sale is an authentic American percussion trade rifle bearing the desirable “LEMAN / LANCASTER” marking on the lock, attributed to Henry Leman of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Henry Leman was one of the most prominent American gunmakers of the mid 19th century, best known for producing durable trade rifles used on the American frontier and in the western fur trade. His rifles were working guns built for reliability and use making surviving examples highly collectible today. This rifle features a classic trade rifle configuration, including: - 42” octagonal barrel - Percussion ignition system - Full-length walnut stock - Brass furniture, including trigger guard and decorative patchbox style inlay - Wooden ramrod retained beneath the barrel The rifle shows honest age and field use, with: - Patina and light pitting to metal surfaces - Wear, handling marks, and finish loss to the stock - Evidence consistent with long-term use as a working firearm The lock retains a clear Leman Lancaster marking, providing strong historical attribution and collector appeal. This is a solid example of a mid 19th century American trade rifle, representing the type of firearm carried and used during westward expansion. We warrant that the firearms are as they appear in our photos but do not warrant mechanical condition or operation. Price: $799.00 |
