Description:
This is avery nice unaltered Model 1898 Krag rifle. It is serial number 291989 , made at Springfield Armory in 1903s. This very nice rifle is a very shootable rifle that functions excellently with no pitting and excellent deep rifling still strong which should make it a good accurate rifle. The barrel is the original 30 inch barrel.
The front and rear sights are in great shape, the linseed traeted stock is very good with normal wear, the metal has not been refinished. Chamber and bolt look good. I examined the bolt and do not see any damage or excess wear. There is a very viisible cartouche date 1902. Patina looks good for the age of this rifle. Everything functions quite nice as it all should. It appears to have been very well maintained before and certianly during my ownership.It is well cleaned well and lubricated
It wears a period correct button sling with a very visible stamp Rock Island Armory.
The rear sight swivels easliy for windage and ladder is untouched.
The pictured sling, bayonet and three pice cleanon rods are not included in the sale at this new price.
