Description:
This shotgun is rather unique. Its has a AYA #53 engraved action, case hardened blue finish. I have not seen this bluing treatment on any AYA #53 guns with this engraving scene. What is unusual is the barrels and butt stock. I don’t recall any AYA with vent rib on any of their guns, and this gun has a very nice vented barrel with a gold bead front sight. My best measurement of the chokes are : left Barrel = Imp Modified, Right Barrel = Full. What is interesting is the top of the left barrel is engraved with: F(?). A. B. ARMS, and the right barrel is marked: “ Made In Spain.” I have not been able find anything about a F(?)FB ARMS in Spain. Barrel length is 28” inches. The Shotgun weighs 6 lbs, 15 ozs.
Next is the butt stock. I have never seen a #53 that didn’t have extra nice figured walnut wood. This gun has nice straight grained walnut wood. The front grip does appear to be an a AYA original as it has a AYA insert on the bottom. Also, the rubber recoil pad does not appear to be a AYA part. Also the butt stock does has a few light blemishes on the top near the rear. (See Photos)
Condition: This gun appears top have hardly been fired at all. The action if very tight, yet smooth to open. The handgrip is very tight which suggests the barrels have not be removed very much. The bores are perfect and very shiny. The overall condition of this shotgun is Excellent.
Now, what is this gun worth? I had NRA Certified Firearms Appraiser evaluate this gun and because of the anomalies and recognizing the AYA #53 action is one of best in the world and the overall condition is excellent, we believe the firearms should sell for around $2800. Therefore I have listed this gun at $2595.
