All original and complete. Made in .54 caliber. The scarce carbine has fine metal, markings and edges throughout. This includes the lock plate. The lock, top of the breech & tang all have a nice untouched natural darkening colors on them. The lock & hammer have a mix of natural original colors and plum patina on them.The barrel retains most of its original blue plum color throughout it. All of the brass hardware on the rifle are original and have a nice untouched patina on them. All screws are fine. The wood on the rifle is fine throughout with a fine grain and edges on it. It also has a very nice natural color & grain throughout it. There Is A Very Clear & Sharp U.S. Inspectors Cartouche Opposite The Lock On The Backside Of The Wood. It Has A Fine Action And Bore In It. This is An Early & Rare U.S. Civil War Military Issued Merrill Carbine In All Original And Fine Plus Condition.
