Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Bank Check, Cashier Check, USPS Money Order preferred Description: We handle MANY Savage 99's becasue we love them. F's and G's are two or our favorites. Date code N or M (these are often hard to read cleaerly) makes it a 1961 (m) or 1962 (n) date of manufacture. There are NO non factory modifications...the stock has not even had sling swivels added. In 1960 these already brilliantly designed (brass cartridge counter, cocking indicator, rotary mag, factory hand checkered American Walnut stocks) were improved by moving the safety from the somewhat less than counter intuitive lever to the much better tang safety but are othewise unchanged. All F's (started production in 1955) have 22" barrel and are characterized by the slender forend and light easy (a pleasure to carry) weight. These were factory drilled and tapped for scope mounting. Most younger shooters will not know that this is a classic NE and Upper Midwest rifle and cartrige combination; 300 savage is very nearly equal to .308 win (we have some in .308 too). This cal was designed by Savage to offer to the military and to be balistically close to 30 06 which was the predominant US Mil cal at the time. 99's in 300 Savage have been carried by knowlegable sportsman across the continent and others as well. This one has the often found crack at the upper tang. It has not traveled during the 65 or so years since this was made and is not likely to get worse; these are easily reparied by any who know their way around wood. If the buyer elects we can have it fixed now or later for a modes charge (inquire) Bore is perfect with strong case colors remaining on the parts of the lever not exposed to light. Thsi comes with an inexpensive but clear and bright Bushnell scope ready for fall.
