Extraordinary Three-Barrel Over/Under Presentation Set – Dated 1940
Built for Walter Rempt
An extraordinary and historically significant presentation gun produced by the craftsmen of Remo (Rempt Brothers Gun Makers) of Suhl, Germany. This remarkable set was built by the employees of the company in 1940 and presented to Walter Rempt, owner and company manager, in celebration of both his 60th birthday and the 75th anniversary of the firm.
A presentation plaque in the stock translates as:
"For our Company Manager
for his
60th Birthday
75th Year
Business Anniversary
Presented
from the
Company Employees
of Remo
1940"
The gun displays exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, befitting a presentation piece intended for the head of the firm. The receiver is engraved with fine acanthus scroll and detailed game scenes, while the toplever bears the raised gold initials “WR” for Walter Rempt.
The lockup is accomplished by a tradition double underbite system with an additional and unusual two points of lock up on the rib extension. These two rib extensions fasten the barrels tight to the breech face and snug to the bottom of the action. This is accomplished by a tapered cross bolting system, rarely seen and an indication of the gunmakers exceptional engineering skills.

This rare set includes three complete barrel assemblies, all sharing a single forend, allowing the gun to be configured as a shotgun, rifle, or combination gun.
