Description:
Truly an exceptional and beastly beautiful gun built with 36” damascus barrels that have damascus top rib and small brass front bead. Rib engraved “CHARLES LANCASTER. 131 NEW BOND STREET LONDON”. Breech ends with burst of scroll on rib and chain link pattern around tubes. Polished flats with SN. Bottom of tubes with provisional proofs and brl maker’s stamps “J.G.” and “W.A.”. Wedge fastened splinter forend is point pattern checkered in has triangular horn tip. Forend iron is casehardened and lightly engraved. Interior screws are also engraved. Casehardened sidelock hammer receiver is nicely vine scroll engraved in about 50% coverage with maker’s name “LANCASTER” at front of locks. Brl fences are sculpted and scroll engraved. Low profile hammers are engraved and knurled as is top tang. Jones underlever is lightly scroll engraved. Blued long tang trigger guard with game scene on bow featuring Pointer and Setter, pheasants, and scroll on tang with SN at center. Gun made with double triggers and extractors. Straight grip walnut buttstock is point pattern checkered through the wrist, has carved teardrops behind locks, silver oval with crest & initials “PYG” on toeline, and terminates with its original blued full steel buttplate. Top of buttplate is scroll and game scene engraved. 

This gun remains in extremely fine and investment grade original condition. Barrels with 97-99% original brown remaining. Buttstock and forend are sound and retain nearly all of their original finishes with a few minor impressions. Locks and frame retain virtually all of their bold original case color. Lever with about 90% light original color remaining. Trigger guard and buttplate retain more than 90% of their factory original blue. Breech face is unmarred indicating this gun has seen almost no use. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Mechanics are crisp.
