This is a very fine and rare Enfield No. 2 Mark I Revolver in the .38 British revolver cartridge (.380 Rimmed / 38 S&W). This revolver retains all Mark I features including the double and single action with spur hammer and the hammer block safety. This revolver is particularly rare as it bears no extra British commercial export proofs, out-of-service marks or import marks which would indicate it did not leave service "officially" and is therefore marked exactly as it would have been when in service. It is even rarer in that it bears a "1SG / 21" unit marking on the butt which indicates it was issued to the famous First Battalion Scots Guard (Gun No. 21)!
The revolver is dated 1937, all matching and in very fine condition retainng about 90% plus original rust blue showing some mild edge wear and thinning, the screw heads showing a bit of slot wear which is fairly typical on this model. The recoil plate shows nice straw color and all markings remain crisp. The grooved walnut grips are in very fine condition, the left panel with a bit more wear showing some small areas of light chipping in the grooves. Bore is near excellent, barrel-to-frame fit very good and the action is crisp and functions well.
A desirable British military revolver with some particularly rare features.
