Description:
VERY FINE 1899 KRAG CARBINE, #285XXX MADE 1900. This was the last of the U.S. Carbines to be issued. This one has the correct M-1901 “C” (carbine) marked rear sight with the desirable humped handguard. The receiver shows the correct uncleaned dark case color finish and the barrel retains fine deep blue with the most minor dulling from age. Correct front sight. Sharp Model 1899 markings on the receiver which also has the headless cocking piece found only on some 1899 Carbines. Stock and forearm are excellent with only one minor hairline crack coming back from the lower corner of the magazine on each side that goes nowhere and is minor. Sharp Circle P cartouche on the stock behind the trigger guard. Even has some fine blue on the barrel band and some on the trigger guard. Tight action and excellent bore. Much better than usually encountered.
