Description: The Ross Mark II Rifle was a Canadian, straight-pull bolt-action rifle produced from 1905 to 1912 as an improvement over the Mark 1. It featured a stronger receiver, a new bolt with an angled cut for better primary extraction, and updated safety and bolt stop. While initially highly successful for target shooting, the rifle ultimately faced issues with tight chamber tolerances, especially with non-Canadian ammunition, which led to extraction problems on the battlefield. By 1916, the rifle had been withdrawn from front line service but continued to be used by many snipers of the Canadian Expeditionary Force until the end of the war due to its exceptional accuracy." During this time, the U.S. government purchased about 10,000 to use as training rifles for their military, Design and features
