At its core is a dedicated, matching-finish M1D sniper barrel manufactured by Springfield Armory in January 1953 (?SA D7312555 1 53 MD34?), complete with its integral, pinned steel mounting block and single-knob scope mount. While millions of standard Garands were produced, M1D snipers are remarkably scarce, with only an estimated 28,000 official conversion barrels ever produced by Springfield Armory to fulfill Korean War and early Vietnam era requirements. Finding an example in this specific configuration—properly outfitted with a highly sought-after, T37 pronged flash hider makes it an incredibly elite tier find for the advanced investor.
