Description:
This is an excellent example of an Enfield Mark V trials rifle. All serial numbers are matching, cut off is in place without peek hole, supported nose piece and Mark v rear aperture site. The bore on this rifle is in excellent mirror condition. Wood is as it should be with the full length upper hand guard, extra mid band in place, forend and buttstock have no cracks or major issues. The safety catch is marked with the letter V. There's a wire loop in front of the magazine. There are a few handling marks and one less than dime size abrasion on the left side at the wrist. Nothing here would interfere with function of the rifle. The bolt which has matching serial numbers has  over travel well within armorers specifications, see picture. The rear site works as it should and all parts are visible. This particular example has a rear site that is calibrated to 1400.

After world war I England decided to do research on improving the number one Mark III. While there were many things on the consideration list the largest of which was a rear aperture site. Between 1922 and 1924 20,000 rifles were made under the Mark v designation. All of these were manufactured at R. S. A. F. Enfield.
Eventually all the research and answers in the Mark v trials led to the development of the ever-popular No. 4 Mark 1 that saw extensive service from the mid 1930s on.
