Percussion Single Barrel FOWLER Early/Mid-1800s Large Bore w/PLATINUM INLAID BANDS Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Patrick, Liverpool Marked Percussion Large Bore Fowling Piece, made circa 1830-50 in Liverpool, England. Ann Patrick was a notable female gunmaker known for her high quality firearms. Her work reflects the craftsmanship of this era and was part of a family legacy of gunsmithing that dates back to her father, Jeremiah Park, who began his career in the late 1700s. Though London and Birmingham were the epicenter for English gunmaking all the way through the turn of the century, Liverpool had its fair share of gunmakers. This is an English fowling piece that is elegant in its simplicity and practicality. This hammer gun would have been used primarily for putting game on the table or defending one’s homestead. During this era, there were many English and Belgian gunmakers who were capitalizing on the eager markets in the United States. This 12 gauge fowling piece was made in a great gauge to go after high flying geese and ducks. Its mid-length barrel made for easy hunting in the dense woods or traipsing through the marsh looking for ducks and geese. This would have been a staple of most homesteads hanging over the mantle during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s. The overall condition is fine. Original smooth and even brown patina. Excellent action. The bore is in good shape for its age and remains smooth. Minor dents and dings are present on the stock with less than average wear. Lightly checkered wrist. Some damascus patterns are present on the barrel. Markings are legible. Lightly engraved lock. “LIVERPOOL” marked barrel. Platinum inlaid barrel bands. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 34-7/8 inches. Caliber: 12 Gauge LOP: 14 inches. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
