"Serial number 4722. Made in 1861. 44 caliber with an 8" barrel. This is a very sharp example of a Colt fluted Army with a fairly even gray patina. The grips are very good. All numbers are matching including the wedge. The cylinder is numbered on the back. The action works perfectly. This gun comes with a factory letter. It was shipped to P. S. Newton in Hartford, Ct Newton was a retailor down the road from Colt and is known to have received several Colt 1860 Armies at the beginning of the Civil War. This gun as probably received 10-12 days after the battle of Fort Sumter. Very neat all original early Civil War period Colt 1860 Army!
