Introduced in 1950, the Colt Cobra was designed as a lightweight alternative to the Colt Detective Special, utilizing an aluminum alloy frame while retaining a steel barrel and cylinder. This innovation made it one of the earliest and most successful lightweight carry revolvers ever produced.
