The M&P 9 Shield was designed by Smith & Wesson with concealed carrying in mind, offering a slim design, polymer frame, and 7+1 or 8+1 round capacity, depending on the magazine used. Smith & Wesson also carefully considered safety when designing this firearm, using both a manual thumb safety and a trigger safety to prevent unintentional firing. This particular firearm also offers a California compliant loaded chamber indicator and magazine safety.
