The Walther P38 was a 9mm semi-automatic pistol developed by the German Carl Walther Company in the late 1930s to replace the complex and costly Luger P08. Adopted by the German army (Wehrmacht) in 1938 and designated the \"Pistole 38,\" it became a standard issue sidearm for German troops during World War II. The P38 is known for its double-action design and locking-block mechanism, which contributed to its reliability and was a more cost-effective alternative to the Luger.
