Description:
VERY RARE & Desirable COLT “CIVILIAN MODEL” 1905 U.S.M.C. DA Revolver C&R

SERIAL #10008; EIGHTH Revolver Produced in SERIES

Here Ancestry Guns presents a Very Rare and Desirable C&R Colt “Civilian Model” 1905 Double Action Revolver, made in Hartford, Connecticut. Manufactured in 1905 with serial number “10008”, this revolver the was the eighth gun produced in this series. This rare civilian model pistol is one of 925 pistols produced. The Marine Corps Civilian Model is one of the most desirable handguns in Colt’s double action revolver production line up and are extremely difficult to find or obtain on today’s market. With a total production of only 925, this revolver has become one of the most desirable guns to collect since the turn of the century in 1900.

These civilian Model 1905’s were not fitted with lanyard swivels, though the hole for the lanyard swivel is there and has been plugged, as were all of the civilian models. Also, the butt plate is also not marked U.S.M.C. on any of the civilians. The barrel has the two-line address/patent dates (1884, 1888 and 1895) marking on top and "COLT. D.A. 38" on the left side. A circled Rampant Colt is stamped on the left side of the frame. These civilian models came standard with checkered walnut grips that are unique to this model, as is on this example, that are next to impossible to replace when they are missing.

The overall condition is very good. Some original finish with patina. The action is excellent in both single and double action modes. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The grips are solid. The numbers match on the frame, crane and cylinder release.
