Description:
"Serial no. 514891. Manufactured early 1943 by Inland Division of General Motors, chambered in .30 Carbine,18"" round barrel marked “INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/7-43." The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The milled front sight is marked “N," while the front barrel band is marked “U." The operating rod is hand-scratched with the number “1075116." The rifle retains a correct early flip rear sight marked “S." The low wood stock remains in very good condition with faint cartouches still visible. The carbine is accompanied by a sling and oiler, with the sling marked “J.H. Steinbeck." Inland was the largest producer of M1 Carbines during WWII, and early configuration examples such as this remain highly collectible. Overall, this is an excellent example of a WWII-era M1 Carbine. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
