Rigby London's Best limited edition .350 Rigby Magnum created for the benefit of Robin & Pauline Hurt's Habitat For Rhinos Namibia project. Number two in an edition of 12 rifles chambered for this proprietary caliber, serial 7131 is named “MORINGA” (after one of the rhinos conserved by the project) and wears a 24-inch barrel (.680-inch muzzle diameter, brass-beaded blade front sight with flip-up moon and satin face, banded sling hook, island rear sight assembly with three express blades marked 65/150/250). Features include a rust blue finish with niter blue accents (extractor, follower, trigger, front sight blade keeper screw), single square bridge Mauser 98 action, checkered bolt knob (three bordered panels), three-position safety, drop box magazine and and inside-the-bow release. STOCK: The outstanding Turkish walnut blank was shaped as a light sporter and appointed with an oil finish, fine wrap checkering (partially-Mullered border), crossbolt, trap door grip cap (extra front sight blade), toe line hook, initial plate and a recoil pad. ENGRAVING: Designed by Pauline Hurt, the project logo centers the floor plate and is surrounded by intricate relief scroll which rolls over the action and cap to full coverage. Gold highlights include Rigby's script logo, Morenga (2x), leaf regulation distance, sighting lines, project name and rhino silhouette on block, “2 of 12” on bolt handle, addorsed R's on knob, serial and a rhino silhouette on the trap. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.4 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.3 inches. CAPACITY: Five rounds feeding from the magazine. The extractor does not “snap over” rounds dropped into the chamber. Feeding/extraction/ejection are effortless and positive. CONDITION: The bore is outstanding. Metal and wood finishes are each essentially new with but trace suggestions of cycling and handling. The extractor finish (niter blue) has a few small spots showing darker finish. AMMUNITION: Twenty rounds of Rigby ammo with correct head stamps (225-grain Woodleigh Weldcore PP, 2580 FPS muzzle velocity) is included. CASE: A canvas and leather case with maker's label, screwdrivers and cleaning tools in present and in excellent condition. No papers are present.
