Holland & Holland London's Best .400 H&H Magnum. Based on a Mauser 98 (standard length) action, serial 5036 has a 25-inch barrel (.730-inch muzzle diameter, partially-banded front sight assembly with folding hood/brass-beaded blade/stippled face, banded sling swivel stud, sleeved rear sight assembly with fixed and folding leafs marked 100/200 for 400-grain bullets). ACTION: Features include a custom bolt handle, custom shroud with three-position safety, Holland & Holland quick detaching mounts (serialed 30mm rings) and custom drop box bottom metal with an inside-the-bow release button. Metal finish is polished blue. STOCK: Shaped as a sporter, the walnut exhibits tight directional figure along its full length. Formalities include broad wrap checkering with a partial double border, single crossbolt, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, trap door grip cap (color case, extra sight blade), leather-wrapped recoil pad, initial plate and an oil finish. A toe line sling swivel stud has not been installed. OPTIC: A Swarovski Z8i 1.7-13.3x42P (illuminated dot and circle) is mounted and remains in new condition. Electronics operate properly. DIMENSIONS: Weight (with optic) is 11.2 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.6 inches. CAPACITY: Five rounds (four plus one). The extractor “snaps over” rounds dropped into the chamber. Feeding/extraction/ejection are dependable. CONDITION: The bore is pristine. Metal and wood finishes are new, save for a few micro spots on the rear sight sleeve. AMMUNITION: Twenty rounds of Extreme Custom Ammunition (400-grain Woodleigh FMJ) is included. No case or papers. The price is firm and layaway is available. $60,000 plus shipping.
