Description:
Westley Richards PH Model .470 Nitro Express double rifle. A seldom-encountered fixed lock with a high degree of finish at that, serial 19933 was completed in 2003. BARRELS: The 26-inch barrels (.660-inch muzzle diameters, Combination Front Sight with folding hood and flip-up moon, partially-scalloped rib transitioning to a quarter rib with hand-filing and three express leafs marked 50/100/150 accented with gold aiming points, ejectors, rust blue finish). FEATURES: The action wears a brilliant color case with contrasting elements in polished blue. Details include a beetleback mechanical safety, twin triggers, extended lower tang and disk set strikers. STOCK: The stout-grained walnut was shaped into a semi-beavertail forend (wrap checkering with partially-Mullered borders) and a traditional butt (deep open pistol grip, scalloped pancake with shadow line, drop points, trap door cap, Universal recoil pad). The toe line has an inletted initial plate and the finish is hand-rubbed oil. ENGRAVING: The action is graced with an elegant floral scroll to full coverage. The pattern continues over the tangs, cap and latch. Maker's name and “SAFE” appear in gold. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 11.0 pounds. Length-of-pull is 14.25 inches, drops are 1.5 and 2.25 inches, and cast off is approximately .20-inch. CONDITION: Bores are outstanding. Barrels are full on face. Trigger pulls are surprisingly crisp. Barrel blue, colors and wood are each approximately 99 percent. (The toe line is provisioned for a sling anchor point which has been carefully plugged and blended. This may have been done prior to original delivery as there is no provision for a barrel-mounted attachment point.) ACCURACY: The included test target from Westley Richards Agency (US) shows a four-shot, fifty-yard group of 1.96 inches (center-to-center, Hornady Dangerous Game 500-grain DGS). CASE: A canvas and leather case with brass corners (maker's label, snaps, oiler, chamber brush) is present and in excellent condition. The price is firm and layaway is available. $75,000 plus shipping.
