Description: Offered here is a beautifully refurbished Dakota Arms Model 76 chambered in the classic .300 H&H Magnum—one of the most elegant and historically significant all-around sporting cartridges of the 20th century. Built around Dakota’s respected controlled-round-feed Model 76 action, this rifle combines classic American custom-rifle styling with practical field utility. The rifle features a 23-inch blued barrel without open sights, front sling swivel barrel band, hinged straddle floorplate with inside-the-bow release, two-panel checkered bolt knob, and Dakota’s integral rotary-style scope bases. Leupold-pattern rings are included. Swarovski Z6i or Z5i scopes available at additional cost. The rifle is stocked in highly attractive XXX Bastogne walnut with a black forend tip, blued steel grip cap bearing the “DA” logo, shadowline cheekpiece, and multi-point checkering. The wood displays excellent figure, warmth, and contrast while retaining the restrained elegance appropriate to a classic Dakota sporting rifle. This rifle recently received careful professional refurbishing work by Evan Koch, a highly skilled custom stockmaker whose work includes checkering and stockmaking for Parkwest Arms and other high-end custom rifle makers. Koch was recommended specifically by master gunmaker D’Arcy Echols. The work included a careful stock refinish, recutting of the checkering, and installation of a new Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. The result is a fresh, crisp, and very fine example that retains the original Dakota character while presenting in near-new condition. Mechanically, the rifle is built around Dakota’s controlled-round-feed action with full-length claw extractor and three-position safety—features long favored by hunters seeking reliability in demanding field conditions. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, and the rifle is mechanically excellent. The .300 H&H Magnum remains one of the great classic sporting cartridges, offering smooth feeding, excellent downrange performance, and a strong connection to the golden age of international hunting. It is equally at home as a refined western big-game rifle, mountain rifle, or plains-game rifle for Africa. Weighing approximately 7.1 pounds bare, this rifle is notably light and lively for a Dakota Model 76, making it exceptionally well suited as a classic mountain, stalking, or plains-game rifle. The combination of controlled-round-feed reliability, .300 H&H ballistics, and refined Dakota stock architecture gives the rifle real field utility beyond its collector appeal. This rifle was previously part of the Jerry Danuser Collection, adding a modest but meaningful provenance note from a curated sporting-arms collection. Condition is very fine overall. The metal retains approximately 99% original blue with only minor handling evidence, and the professionally refreshed stock presents as near-new with crisp recut checkering and a new Pachmayr Decelerator pad.
