Westley Richards HDL .600 Nitro Express “The Forest Rifle”. A spectacular creation launched in 2013 and completed five years later, serial 20343 has 24-inch barrels (.855-inch muzzle diameters, front sight assembly with folding hood/brass-beaded blade/flip-up moon, sling loop, quarter rib with fixed and folding leafs marked 50/100, ejectors, doll's head extension, polished blue). ACTION: The scalloped action incorporates Westley Richard's unequaled hand-detachable locks, has a mechanical “beetle back” tang safety, extended tangs, rolled guard, articulated trigger and a color case finish. STOCK: Shaped from an outstanding walnut blank set with rioting end-to-end figure, formalities include a pointed horn forend tip, wrap checkering with partial double borders, drop points, scalloped pancake with shadow line, trap door grip cap, toe line sling loop, initial plate, recoil pad, timed screws and a hand-rubbed oil finish. ENGRAVING: Incorporating at least 23 major and accent characters, Bradley Tallett (signed) created a masterwork representing the jungle wilderness of Central Africa. As is fitting, the plate sports a tremendous forest elephant bull with a brace of colobus monkeys in overwatch. Action right shows a leopard, pigmy hippos and an okapi while the left has a giant forest hog, duikers and a bongo. Several gorillas appear, the three-dimensional bust riding the lever being the most striking. The list goes on, with several of the well-hidden characters nearly impossible to discover. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 13.8 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.65 inches. CONDITION: Appears to be unfired since regulation with trace suggestions of careful handling. Mechanics are smooth and positive. CASE: A themed leather (croc skin texture) and oak case with maker's legend includes a replacement front sight blads and firing pins, snaps, tools (maitenance and cleaning), decocking block, solvent bottle and a patch holder. A fine canvas and leather cover is included. All elements are in exceptional condition. AMMUNITION: Ten rounds of pristine Westley Richards 900-grain ammo (five softs and five solids) are included.
