Overview
The 6.5 WBY RPM is based on a lengthened version of the .284 Winchester, featuring a large body diameter, low body taper, and a 35-degree shoulder, which significantly increases case capacity and allows for higher velocities. The \"RPM\" stands for Rebated Precision Magnum, indicating that the cartridge has a slightly smaller rim than the case body, enabling it to function in standard bolt faces while maximizing powder capacity. Introduced in 2019, it was specifically developed for Weatherby’s Mark V Backcountry rifles and the newer Model 307, focusing on a balance of power, weight savings, and manageable recoil.
