"Serial no. B9588. Manufactured circa 1912 by Steyr Mannlicher for Chile,chambered in 7x57mm Mauser,29 ½"" round barrel. The bore is bright with strong, well-defined rifling noted. Serial numbers are matching except for the cleaning rod. The barrel’s blue has thinned in areas, while the receiver has developed a smooth grey patina with sharp factory markings remaining visible. The stock shows light handling impressions consistent with careful service use. The Chilean Model 1912 is regarded as one of the finer Mauser contract rifles of the early 20th century, noted for its quality Austrian manufacture and smooth action. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
