Newly acquired and offered as a monthly special is an officer's personal service weapon- a Browning BDA .380 auto pistol made by Beretta. Serial number 425RP05390.
The Browning BDA 380 is one of the more respected compact .380 pistols of the late 20th century. Although sold under the Browning name in the United States, it was actually manufactured in Italy by Beretta for Browning Arms Company and based on the famous Beretta Cheetah
During the late 1970s through the 1990s, the BDA .380 and Beretta 84-series pistols were widely carried as backup guns, off-duty sidearms, detective/plainclothes pistols, and private-purchase police weapons.
They developed an excellent reputation for reliability, smooth double-action trigger pulls, mild recoil, and exceptional accuracy for a compact pistol.
The serial number 425RP05390 indicates manufacture in the mid-late 1980s. Many shooters still consider these among the finest traditional metal-frame .380 pistols ever built.
This specimen has seen exterior wear and use consistent with the officer’s service use but is in solid shape. The grips are solid with one grip just lacking its “B” decal. It was acquired without magazines so we purchased two 10-round magazines making the pistol compliant in all states.
