Description:
RARE Antique ALLEN & WHEELOCK Large Frame DOUBLE ACTION Percussion Revolver

CIVIL WAR Era BAR HAMMER Pocket w/CYLINDER SCENE

Here Ancestry Guns presents an antique Civil War Era Allen & Wheelock Large Frame Double Action Percussion Pocket Revolver in .34 Caliber, made circa 1857 to the early 1860s in Worcester, Massachusetts. This revolver would have been made early in the Allen & Wheelock era which ran from 1856 through 1865. It was designed to be a very simple conceal and carry, self-defense pistol in the turbulent mid-19th Century and likely used in the American Civil War.

The trade names used by Ethan Allen were “E. Allen” between 1831 and 1837 located in Grafton, “Allen & Thurber” between 1837 and 1842 in Grafton, “Allen & Thurber” between 1842 and 1847 in Norwich, “Allen & Thurber” between 1847 and 1854 in Worcester, “Allen & Thurber & Co.”  between 1854 and 1856 in Worcester, “Allen & Wheelock” between 1856 and 1865 in Worcester, and finally “E. Allen & Company” between 1865 and 1871 in Worcester.

The overall condition is good. Original gray patinas remain on the barrel and frame. Robust action. Markings are eligible. Much of the cylinder scene is in-tact! Both grips are seated firmly in good shape, with the right grip having a repaired thin crack on the bottom. Absent mainspring tension screw. The bore is in good shape for its age having dimmed with serviceable rifling.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 3-5/8 inches.

Caliber: .34 Percussion
