Description:
NSN, .50 CF, 36 5/8" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some thin freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome gun that retains some of the original dark, oil-quenched finish on the breechblock assembly, while the 1864-dated lock has an overall mottled gray-brown patina, with a fairly bright blue-black tarnished patina along the forward half of the lockplate. The barrel, and furniture have a mostly pewter gray patina with mild plum-brown freckling throughout. The walnut stock has been refinished to very good condition with some minor surface scratches and blemishes scattered about the added oil finish, including an area with some concentrated surface scratches below the rear lock screw on the left side. No cartouche is visible. The rifle comes with an original metal ramrod and rates very good plus condition overall. Antique;
