This is a collector lot of memorabilia from the famed Civil War Dentist and firearms inventor Dr. Edward Maynard. Included is a signed check dated May 2, 1871 and a signed bank draft from April of the same year. Two letters of correspondence to Dr. Maynard are included with the first written on Ida and Olympus Mills Cotton & Paper Sack Manufactory letterhead from Canajoharie, NY. The second is written on Mt. McGregor Improvement Company Limited letterhead from Saratoga Springs, NY. We include a copy of the excellent book by Rodney S. Hatch III Dr. Edward Maynard: "Letters from the Land of the Tsar 1845-1846": America's Pioneering Dental Surgeon/Turned Civil War Gun Inventor. The latter gives a detailed history of Maynard and his famous firearms. A fantastic collection of Firearms ephemera by a very important maker that is suitable for framing and display.
