A rare and distinguished treasure for collectors, this Smith & Wesson “Triple Lock” First Model .44 Hand Ejector revolver, manufactured between 1907 and 1915, represents one of the finest and most sought-after revolvers of its era. With only about 15,375 ever produced and a very limited number chambered in the special order .44 S&W Russian caliber, this revolver stands out as an extraordinary rarity, confirmed by the included factory letter noting its original shipment to the Kimball Gun Store in Tacoma, Washington on April 12, 1916. Sporting a desirable 6 1/2-inch barrel and rare 1/10-inch Partridge front sight with a matching square-notch rear sight, this revolver was further enhanced during its period of use with top-quality upgrades: a King “Super Target” vent rib and advanced King sights, along with a pair of highly coveted, beautifully checkered walnut Roper grips, exemplifying the finest enhancements available to precision shooters of the time. Collectors will appreciate the period-correct features, the top barrel’s classic S&W address and patent markings, and matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder, and ejector rod housing, as well as matching assembly numbers on the frame and crane. The Roper grips display authentic production details, including original jig holes and hand-marked interiors. Condition
Very fine as period upgraded, retains 95% plus of the blue finish with some light muzzle and edge wear and a cylinder turn line. The grips are excellent with a few light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A very attractive “King Super Target” upgraded Smith & Wesson “Triple Lock” .44 Hand Ejector First Model revolver chambered in the extremely scarce .44 Russian caliber!
