Produced only from 1894 to 1915, the Bisley Model is renowned for its purpose-built design for accuracy and target shooting. Even more desirable, this particular revolver is chambered in the relatively scarce .38 W.C.F. caliber, a configuration found in only 12,163 examples, making it especially sought-after among enthusiasts. The Bisley is praised for its comfortable handling, with a higher frame, distinctive humpback grip, uniquely curved hammer with a wide knurled spur, and a wide trigger, making it a favored choice for marksmen of its era. This revolver features all of the signature details: the iconic one-line Hartford barrel address, clear “(BISLEY MODEL) 38 W.C.F.” barrel marking, two-line patent dates and encircled Rampant Colt logo on the frame, blade front and notch rear sights, and original two-piece checkered hard rubber grips embossed with the Rampant Colt motif. Matching visible serial numbers are present on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap, with assembly number “9080” on the loading gate, ensuring authentic historical integrity. Condition
Excellent, retains 90% plus bright original high polish blue finish, 95% brilliant original case colors, with minor muzzle wear, some flaking on the cylinder, thinning on the grip straps, some smooth brown freckling, and sharp markings and edges in the metal overall. Grips are also excellent, with tight fitment, minimal handling marks, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. This excellent Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army revolver would make a fine addition to any Colt firearms collection!
