Description:
HARD COVER BOOK - 1st Edition -  A HISTORY of BROWNING GUNS from 1831.
Original edition of the 1942 book in the more difficult to find rare hard cover version.  The condition is very good to excellent throughout.  The one issue is a didication inscription from previous owner.
It is an excellent refererence for any Belgium Browning collector.  This collectable book offers the best information on the history of John M. Browning, his guns and of the Browning Company.
This original hard cover printing has 2 more pages than the soft cover reprints that came out after World War II.
The book covers John M. Browning’s life and all of his many accomplishments in the sporting and military arms fields.
A good read for any military arms or history buff along with being the most collectable version.

A question about the "A History of Browning Guns from 1831" book was submitted and the following answer is given in the Browning Collectors Association Newsletter of July-August 1990 issue on page 4.
The books in question were offered in 3 editions.  The first with a buff paper cover and the second in a blue hard cover published in 1942.
The third issue came some time later and was also in buff paperback.  It had some minor changes in photography and content.  No records of the numbers of each that were printed could be found.
The buff versions were distributed to Browning dealers and customers at no charge, according to Mr. Val A. Browning, the author.  Extra copies were available at 25 cents each.
The hardbound books were intended as gifts to special customers and friends of the family, and were not sold.
The paperback editions bring about $30 in mint condition.  The blue hard cover copies in mint condition are rare, and could be priced above $200, depending on the seller's hopes.
Most will show signs of previous ownership, signatures, inscriptions, etc. and would be devalued accordingly.

Included free as a bonus, is a copy of the 1954 4th edition of "Mauser Rifles and Pistols" reference book.

The price is $140.00 plus actual cost for USPS mail and insurance.
The books will be properly packaged and shipped promptly upon receipt of Cashier's check or USPS Money Order.
