"Serial no. 4161484. Manufactured in 1944 by National Postal Meter Company,chambered in .30 Carbine,18"" round barrel marked “UNDERWOOD/2-44/Flaming Bomb." The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The front sight is marked “SN," while the barrel band is unmarked. The carbine is fitted with a Type II milled adjustable rear sight marked “SA" and has been upgraded with a rotary safety. The low wood stock retains a handsome “NPM/FJA" ordnance crossed cannons cartouche, with the sling well stamped “Trimble/TN." National Postal Meter was one of the more unique wartime M1 Carbine contractors, originally producing postage meters before transitioning to wartime arms production. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
