The Hopkins & Allen 12-gauge single-shot shotgun uses a falling block action and is configured with a 30-inch barrel featuring a cylinder bore choke and a front bead sight. The firearm has a gray patina finish consistent with age. It retains its original checkered wood furniture, including a Prince of Wales–style pistol grip stock and matching forearm, along with a factory checkered butt plate. This antique configuration represents Hopkins & Allen’s typical single-shot design from its production era, built around a robust falling block mechanism and smoothbore barrel suited for standard 12-gauge shells.
This shotgun is used. The finish has worn to a uniform gray patina across the metal surfaces. Both the stock and forearm exhibit visible cracks, and the bore condition is described as good. The action is mechanically functional. No serial number is present, which is consistent with many antique firearms produced prior to modern serialization requirements.
