The Perazzi MX2 is a purpose-built competition shotgun from one of the most respected names in target shooting. Built around Perazzi’s legendary detachable trigger group system and configured with a high-rib competition setup, this MX2 is clearly designed for serious trap, live pigeon, or columbaire shooting. Its substantial weight, long barrels, and raised rib combine to produce the smooth handling and elevated sight picture preferred by dedicated target shooters.
Produced in 1990, this example is chambered in 12 gauge with 2.75" chambers and fitted with 31.5" ventilated mid-rib barrels. The bottom barrel utilizes Perazzi screw-in choke tubes and currently carries a #4 Modified choke, while the top barrel remains fixed Full (.043"). The bottom barrel fires first. Weighing 8 pounds 12 ounces, the gun has the mass necessary to absorb recoil and maintain a smooth swing on long crossing targets and competitive presentations.
The shotgun features Perazzi's famous detachable trigger group, along with a single non-selective trigger, ejectors, and non-automatic safety. The detachable trigger group made the MX-series one of the most successful competition shotguns in the world by allowing rapid servicing and replacement when needed.
This example remains in very good overall condition, showing wear typical of age and use. The bores are clear, the trigger is crisp, the action is smooth and locks up tight, and the ejectors are strong and properly timed. The action, barrels, and forend remain serial-number matched. The detachable trigger group is not serial-number matched, though it functions properly.
The gun is fitted with a 10.5mm ventilated matted raised rib measuring approximately 13.5mm in height, topped with a red fiber-optic front sight. This elevated rib configuration promotes a more upright shooting posture and a higher point of impact, making it particularly well suited to trap disciplines and live bird competition.
The receiver and barrels retain their blued finish, with "Perazzi MX2" inlaid in gold on the left side of the action.
The shotgun wears a deluxe left-handed Monte Carlo walnut stock paired with a target-style forend. Strong diamond-pattern checkering remains throughout the pistol grip and forend. The stock dimensions and raised comb configuration are clearly optimized for a left-handed shooter, providing excellent eye alignment with the elevated rib.

This is a serious competition Perazzi configured for demanding target disciplines. With its raised rib, long barrels, detachable trigger group, and left-handed Monte Carlo stock, it would make an outstanding columbaire, live pigeon, bunker trap, or sporting clays gun for a left-handed shooter. For a right-handed shooter, the action and barrel set provide an excellent foundation for a custom restocking project. Either way, this is a classic Perazzi built to perform at the highest levels of shotgun competition.
