Description:
For sale we have an antique Winchester First Model 1873 Musket in .44-40 WCF. This 1875 manufactured rifle features a walnut stock and forend with trapdoor steel buttplate and 3 barrel bands, steel receiver with thumbprint dust cover, and 30" barrel with block base blade front sight/bayonet lug, and military pattern ladder rear sight. Metal surfaces all show mottled brown patina, stock shows handling wear, but remains solid with no cracks, chips, or splits. Winchester and King's Patent barrel markings are faintly visible ahead of the front sight. Script serial number 6606 on lower tang. Bore is darkened with scattered pitting, but show strong, even rifling for the vintage. Includes Cody Museum Letter correctly showing it as a musket, received in warehouse on July 31, 1875, and shipped on August 16 of the same year. Antique, no FFL required. One of approximately 500 manufactured.
