This DWM-manufactured P.08 Luger represents the classic no-date commercial pattern produced after 1921, chambered in the original 7.65mm (.30 Luger) cartridge favored on the civilian market. These pistols were produced under Weimar-era commercial regulations and were not military-accepted arms. The absence of a chamber date and the presence of Crown/N proofs firmly place this example in postwar commercial production.
The P.08’s short-recoil toggle-lock system is a defining hallmark of German firearms engineering. In 7.65mm Luger, the design is exceptionally smooth-shooting, with reduced recoil and excellent mechanical accuracy. The fixed barrel and single-action trigger contribute to the pistol’s reputation for precision and refined handling.
Crown/N nitro proofs indicate official German proofing for smokeless powder after 1921, a requirement for all commercial arms.
